Bluff Pastry is a bluffing game for two chefs who each start the game by rolling 4xd4 to secretly determine the pie they need to make for arriving visitors. With this knowledge in hand, the ingredients are shuffled — four each of four types — and five cards dealt to each chef. Place the remaining six cards face up in two rows of three cards to form the larder.
Over five rounds, chefs take turns placing a card from their hand face down and bluffing about the type of card it is: pastry, sauce, sweet, or savory. Using the cards in their hand and in the larder, the chef must attempt to work out for each card whether the other player is telling the truth. If they guess correctly, they gain a bluff point, then can either pick up the card from the table or take one at random from the opposing chef's hand.
After each round, the chefs each place a card from their hand into their own pie and spend bluff points to acquire ingredients from the larder that they need. After the final round, the chef's pies are revealed, and the scores tallied.
